Youth Training
At the gym we offer two types of youth training.
1. Weekly Youth Training Classes
We offer once-a-week youth training classes on Thursday afternoons for both primary and secondary school pupils.
Primary School – 5.00 – 5.50pm
In this class we are looking to develop the children’s understanding of fitness training and it’s relevance to health and sporting activities. We teach the children to adopt good technique and specifically develop their ability to run well and understanding of the concept that effort = achievement.
Secondary School – 6.00 – 7.00pm
The Sports Council now encourages and advises that children from 12 years onwards would greatly benefit from a structured and properly supervised fitness training programme using both cardio-vascular and resistance equipment for optimized body development and long term health.
In this class we cover all aspects of fitness training and look to develop the pupil’s cardio-vascular fitness as well as addressing issues as muscular balance, optimum joint alignment and optimum strength ratios.
Cost for youth training is £4 per session (bookings are per school term)
2. Youth Gym
We have set aside three sessions a week where the gym is available for a limited number of 12 – 17 year olds.
These hours are prime-time hours and are 6.00 – 7.00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.
The sessions operate in the same way as the gym is run for adult members.
Each student will undergo a fitness and strength assessment and will then be given a programme suitable to their individual requirements.
We will aim to improve student’s cardio-vascular fitness & address any muscular imbalances or weaknesses
We can also tailor the programmes for those with sports specific goals.
Cost for Youth Gym membership is £40 per month
